Our responsibility is to the environment
To understand what causes indiscriminate deforestation of forests is easy, the challenges comes when seeking solutions to prevent this irreversible damage. Forest plantations are an alternative because they are generators of wood raw material essential to our industry, and protect water sources, allow the regeneration of degraded ecosystems by atmospheric carbon capture, plus it reduces pressure on native forests and refuges wildlife.
Pine plantations are managed in a cycle of 20 years. That means constantly harvest and replant our forest heritage, to keep production steady and sustainable wood through the years. In native forests and mountains, the land is essential to select carefully, so as to compliance with the patches of native forest, water sources and habitat for native fauna.
The natural balance of ecosystems ensures that our plantations are sustainable in the long term. It has been designated as a natural reserve area, approximately 15% of forestry itself. These areas are studied deeply to ensure its stability, and obtain the minimum possible impact on them.
As a policy we do not replace native forest for plantation, additionally we do not plant on areas higher than 3600 m height in order to preserve the moors that are the source of water from the surrounding valleys.
