This is an initiative that is carried out twice a year with the aim of disseminating and promoting good forestry and wood processing practices of legal origin, which is why outstanding actors in environmentally, socially and economically responsible actions are recognized and rewarded.
The third edition of the Sacha Awards was held on November 14, 2019.
In the fourth category: "Sustainable Management of Forests" the management projects in forests with the purpose of conservation, recovery and generation of eco-systemic or environmental services are evaluated. In this sense, Aglomerados Cotopaxi received an award in this category for its water governance system as a high conservation value, by maintaining the harmonious coexistence of rights holders, property and water use, while conserving water regulation through the sustainable management of forest plantations.
The integrated pest management plan to ensure the phytosanitary status of the plantations and their potential growth, promoted by Aglomerados Cotopaxi, was awarded in the Forestry Research category.
In addition, the Minister of the Environment, Raul Clemente Ledesma Huerta, awarded the Forest Green Point recognition, which guarantees that the wood from Aglomerados Cotopaxi is of legal origin.
The main purpose of Punto Verde Forestal is the conservation of native forests; ensuring that the products of the forest, wood that are extracted, transported, commercialized and transformed, come exclusively from legal and sustainable sources.
